Tragic accident on Muizenberg

Post by SNORT » Mon Jan 13, 2020 5:14 pm

https://www.capetownetc.com/news/respec ... erg-cliff/

I am not at liberty to mention the name of the deceased yet but another one of my mates of some 40 years died yesterday while climbing at Muizenberg It was allegedly due to a rock fall.

Please be so careful when trad or even sport climbing and avoid belaying, sitting or walking under or climbing under anyone that is climbing above you. Make your belays to the side of the line of climbing.

Be especially careful when climbing with inexperienced climbers who tend to yank on anything.

Be safe. I have now lost 15 friends to climbing. None to crime!
