Waterval Boven Roc Rally 2011

This is an annual rock climbing endurance event that involves a team of two, racing between the cliff faces around Wonderland, Waterval Boven and doing as many [hard] climbs as you can in 8 hours.
Our objective is to bring the pros and beginners together to socialise, compete and have fun together.  As in a golf match, every climber gets given a handicap based upon his or her climbing performance over the last year and other personal best performances.

Basically to do well in this competition, you will have to do plenty routes (against your handicap) and include one hard route amongst them to climb well with your partner in both scoring categories. Read the rules – A logical and fair but complicated system will be explained before the start of the competition.”

The program and rules for Roc Rally 2011 can be downloaded here

Big bonus points will be given if you arrive at Tranquilitas on your bicycle (see: www.moving-planet.org/invitation)!

Why is the competition starting on the Friday and not the Saturday? It doesn’t make sense to me

It has finally been decided: the Roc Rally will indeed officially start on Friday evening after work. Look out for the program for Friday night … soon.

The FAQ link does not work. We are a team of new climbers and would like to find out about renting ropes and some other climbing equipment, as well as the program (specifically when on Friday night everything starts, as we might have a hard time arranging leave). Is there someone here we may contact for more information or someplace where we can find it on the web?

    Thanks and kind regards

Lourens, contact us on climb@rocrope.com for any questions about ropes etc. A link to the program and rules should be higher up on this page by now (or else very soon).

For now, make sure you have spare batteries in your Black Diamond headlamp and get yourself to Waterval Boven before midnight on Friday 23 September!!!

PS: Put your party hat on ;-)
