What is the average life span of an ATC belay device and a Sum belay device which hasn't been abused? What is the average life span of a carabeaners as well which also haven't been abused?

After about how many years should you replace your quick draws if you use them regularly and aren't abusing them?

You'll get as many answers as there are days in the week on this, I'm sure. But according to Wild Country's website, there is no lifespan limit on metal components if used correctly. They should, however, be replaced if showing signs of extreme wear, deep scratches or if they've been dropped hard.

Someone told me once that the average life span for hardware such as quick draws is about 10 years. I have seen someones quick draws which they had been using for about 10 years and they looked like they needed replacing.
