Red Guitar on Fire @ The Mine

How did that route get that name? Jokes. Funny bits. Crag humour.

I didn't know Red Guitar was only 22 now ! I must be climbing more badly than I thought. As for name, well, some old codgers might remember a U2 song ...

I heard that on the day it was bolted, a tight harness was worn... hence his \"red guitar\" felt \"on fire\".

Ha, ha, ha. That kind of comment is quite likely from the characters involved. Hadn't heard that one :-)

Guy Holwill named it after some old codger band called \"Dire Straits\" - they had a song called RGOF.

Just for the record - Richard is correct, it's from Desire by U2. Has anyone else climbed it a night? Really awesome.

Guy, I climbed it at night at your birthday party: I had tentatively agreed to toprope it, but Dave (Pothier) \"accidently\" pulled the rope (as he was wont to do) - it was my first 25 redpoint. What a night that was.
