Rock Gaffiti

Post by Rookie » Mon Oct 02, 2006 10:31 am

We went climbing this weekend at Strubens Valley and we have noticed that the in thing now is Rock Graffiti.

\"Tommy was here\" is one example.

Come guys this is not on..... I am sure the culprits are rock climbers themselves and perhaps do not realize what they are doing.

So I ask you \"The Culprits\" to please refrain from practicing Art and stick to climbing.
Don't wish upon a star, reach out and grab it !

Yup, I was also there, there were some really inane / uninspired things written on the rock - hello, goodbye, etc. This rubbish wasnt even remotely inspired - why not write a swear word? thats never been done before?

It was probably done out of boredom, please people, try and enjoy and respect nature. Think about the pointlessness of what you are doing. When you arrive and see graffitti on a rock face it is totally out of context and is off no meaning. You dont think \"Oh look Jo jo was here - thats good to know - I hope he's well?\" you just think - thats ugly.

There are many places where proper graffitti is allowed, I actually like the stuff and sometimes take photos of it. If you want to make your mark, go and do it in context and properly - dont degrade (pun?) a perfectly good rock face.
