Hi Guys, I'm just after a bit of advice please. I've had a search through old threads but can't find what I'm looking for. If someone could direct me to an old thread or just give a bit of advice it would be greatly appreciated.
I'm going on a family holiday to Cape Town and want to do some climbing with my brother. I'm taking my trad rack and rope so geared up for anything. We're staying in cape town and I really want to do a couple of big long quality multi pitch routes up table mountain. Can any one recommend a good guidebook I could get easily in cape town? Or a link to a few good topos? Also are there any restrictions or permits required. And is the sport at silver mines good? We might be able to get hold of a car or some bikes for a day.

Thanks in advance,

Teddy

this is the guide book you're looking for:

silvermine reserve has some cool routes in the 5.10 - 5.11 range; for harder routes there is The Hole or The Mine. be sure to climb Sterling Silver at Silvermine Main Crag - classic line.

Just come back from holiday in Cape Town - get the book mokganjetsi recommends. What grades are you looking for long trad, and how many pitches? There's some great stuff up there, and also on Lion's Head, which is also walkable from town.

Lion's Head is great! Almost every time I am in CT I do a trad route there...

Otherwise sport is always easier for shorter trips - less time wandering around trying to get to & find routes...
