Buffelspoort (near Ladismith)

Postby GClamp » Fri Feb 28, 2014 11:29 am

Just out of interest, has anyone explored this kloof for clibing. I stayed at the bottom of it, at the farm, when I was on a bike trip the other day and then took a short walk up. I don't know much about what is good and what isn't but there were a number of crags that looked really good.

Climbed there in the mid-80's a few times when I lived in the s.cape. All moderate trad routes. Massive potential, especially up towards the vlakte level upstream.

Like all those western Swartberg kloofs, and indeed the maze of kloofs that characterise the Rooiberg complex near Opsoek, east of ladismith, as well as Seweweekspoort itself, there are multiple lifetimes of climbing to be had - and the quality would be as good as as the best of Montagu, and the Cockscomb gorges of the Eastern Cape...
