Stolen Climbing to look our for please

Post by swissphotography » Tue Dec 03, 2013 8:22 am

Hi everyone, all of Dylan Vogt's climbing gear was stolen out of his car in Greenside last week. Besides the bag and odd bling carabiner that might make a good xmas decoration, I don't think the thieves will have much use for it so this is in the hope that it turns up as a "for sale" item somewhere. The gear is quite specific so hopefully the climbing community will come onto contact with this at some stage. Please let me know if you do.

Dylans gear is as follows:

• Orange Black diamond demon duffle bag
• 2 x Ocsun Twist harness ( 1 x green and 1 x white and red)
• 2 x Rock Pillar Ozone shoes velcro size 9's
• Mammut 60m x 10.2mm
• Bag of various slings and quick draws
• Petzyl grigri and Petzyl jumar
• 1 red Ocsun chalk bag
• 1 burnt orange Ocsun chalk bag
• Austri alpin belay device (anodised red)
• Austri Alpin Oval screwgate (gold with black gate)

I would really appreciate it you let me know if these stolen items turn up. He is a student so really needs this back.

Hi Dylan

So sorry dude. My brother had his gear stolen out of his car a while back, also in Greenside when parked outside Snorts house when he lived there before going to Cape Town. When we saw this, him and I searched the area, like I mean seriously searched for hours. We in the end found most of it in the storm water drain in the golf course. The hiking boots, climbing shoes, pocket knife and a few other things were missing. Also the backpack itself. There lying in the drain was a complete trad rack untouched! :thumleft:

So I would recommend to do the same, if the thief was on foot he will not bother with the climbing gear and dump it nearby.

What Neil says... A friend had his gear stolen in Bo Kaap area and went house to house, in the end he found it in someones back yard. The thieves had simply ditched what they did not want.
