Natal Bouldering

Postby flop » Wed Jul 12, 2006 11:37 am

Does anyone know if there are any cool overhanging bouldering spots around Durban, other than the freaking hard stuff near the Cave?

Bouldering in KZN? There is a bit.
As for as overhanging stuff is concurned, some of the boulders at Area 51 are a bit overhanging, as well as some of them at Splash Rock. One or two of the problems at Shongweni dam ar overhanging as well.

The bouldering cave at the wave cave is by far the best though.
Generally the bouldering in KZN is okey but limited, Each area is not lightly to keep an average boulderer buisy for much more that a day.

If you need to know more about the KZN bouldering get ahold of me.

The Bouldering Cave is next door to the Wave Cave, which is at Shongweni dam. Walk in as for the Wave Cave, but walk about 30m past the Main cave, in a downstream direction, you cant miss it.

Best RD's for the 'Cave' on http://www.saclimb.co.za if I remember right...

Just checked, saclimb does have a good description of the drive and walk in.

We go to the cave just about every weekend, at this time of the year, so drop us a line and I will give you a guided tour.

i will deffinately hit you up for a climb at the\"wave cave\" thanks very much .

not sure who this dave drummond guy really is ??? all i remember is that he was really trying to get somewhere with the sport while the rest of were just screwing around during break time!!!

8au ranks him as one of the top five climbers in SA (so i found out the other day) yea, i guess that makes him pretty weak!

cheers
