Pillar box on Cederberg Tafelberg

Postby Russell Warren » Wed Jun 28, 2006 2:42 pm

Anybody have any info on the routes on the Pillar box. I am spending the night on top of Tafelberg this weekend and would like to get a short climb or two in. What routes are on this pillar box (preferably the easiest routes) and any idea on what size pro I should take as I don't feel like lugging all my kit up there for one or two short climbs. The info in the Journals is rather sparse.

Adk's little book of lies describes a few routes up the pillar box. The easiest route is about an 18 and climbs diagonally up and left on the north(I think) side of the pillar box. It's pretty obvious. Look in the SA Mountain Mag's calender for a photo. If you don't have much time and only want to climb a single pitch consider 'Comes a Time' in the gully.

Hi Stillemans

Where can I get an RD of Comes a time and what grade is it? Have you got a copy of ADK's guide. If so where can I get hold of you to check it out or even possibly make a photocopy? My e-mail adress is russellw@johnthompson.co.za.
