Rwanda climbing

Postby ken4ord » Mon Apr 10, 2006 5:21 pm

Hey All,

I am stuck in Rwanda and I am climbing fiend, if you ever find yourself up in this area and need a partner I can probablly hook you up. And yes there is climbing here, and I am continually working doubling the number of routes that are here in this country. I get some pictures up for you all sometime.

Cheers,

Ken

Hey dude I was at a slide show, well it was supposed to be a slide show but they had a power failure, it was at the Kenyan mountain clubhouse, by the Wilson Airport. Any ways, it was an old president of the KMC doing the talking and one of the things that had us all going was the need for a military escort to certain areas. Supposedly for the protection against the Gorilla’s; all that in inverted comma’s haha…
Sounds like something we should have at some of our crags…

Yeah the miltary escort in the Volcano's Park is more for any Rebels coming across from the Congo. The gorillas themselves are really chill. They just roll around in the bush, eat, get some sun and just hang. It is actually really safe climbing here in Rwanda except for one crag that has baboons living on it.

Next time I am in Nairobi I told the MCK that I would put on a slide show of Mt. Kenya and Rwanda climbing for them, I don't know when that will be, but we will see.

Here is a pic of friend topping out on a new route we did last weekend.
