Fixed gear in Cederberg kloof

Postby Hector » Wed May 30, 2012 2:17 pm

Andrew Porter and I have some fixed gear on a project beneath the Boggle abseil chains in Cederberg Kloof. One of the cams is missing (Camalot #2). If anyone has it, or knows who does, please give me a ring or drop me a pm. If anyone has an issue with us leaving fixed gear there please also give me a ring or pm. I'm very happy to discuss it. We did a poor job of labelling the gear (labels fell off and we're very sorry for the litter). We have replaced the labels with much tougher ones.
Thanks,
Hector

Surely cams aren't fixed gear? I always thought fixed gear referred to bolts, pitons, threads, etc. Why are you leaving cams in place?

Hector and Porter have a project there which they run to quite frequently after work and often arrive to try it in the dark so they leave their gear on the wall -- thus fixed or left-in-place gear!
I hate this real world place... I'd be more than happy to live out there rather...

Apologies for the poor definition. As Brian says, we leave the gear in place to allow us to quickly work the route at night mid-week. I guess it is therefore in-situ gear. Whatever the definition, does anyone know who has my cam?

Apologies if it sounded like I was being pedantic, I wasn't.

When I first read it as fixed gear I thought I thought you were trying to say it was gear you couldn't get out, but someone else could and has.

Sorry I've no idea who took it.
