Roc 'n Rope - Awesome!

Postby Q20 » Tue May 15, 2012 9:51 am

I would just like to say a HUGE thank-you to all the locals in Boven. I had planned to stay for two months, but unfortunately that was cut short by a bad knee injury.

So to Gustav, Alex, Jan and Thulani at Roc 'n Rope, as well as Danny and Claire in town - many thanks for everything - before and after I got injured. Must be about the best and most friendly hospitality I have had anywhere in my travels over the years. :thumleft:

If you haven't spent some time at Boven yet, I can't recommend it enough. Great people, great vibe and some climbing too - including trad :)

Physics. Apparently, when the rotational force on the medial meniscus is greater than it's elastic strength - it breaks. :(

So no epic fall, no ripping gear, no ground fall, no warning - just climbing out on a fixed line with a shunt. Bang - game over.
Moral of the story, don't twist your knee when your foot is not able to swivel....

oh, and the guys at Roc 'n Rope lent me some cruches. Legend!

Ouch Richard! I tore my meniscus in January, while on an easy pitch on Barrier Buttress. Bummer that your stay was cut short.
