Rescue in progress??

Hiya

Just been handed reports on Capetalk about the R44 being closed between Gordons bay and RooiEls due to a rescue operation to rescue a stranded rock climber ?? Anyone have any details??

Metro rescue tell me it's near the Steenbras dam, the guy is injured, hanging on the end of the rope, helicopter about to attempt the rescue.

The patient was successfully treated on scene by a medic, and removed by the AMS helicopter. A rescue team was preparing to leave CT should they have been needed, but were stood down when it was clear they were not. I am not aware of the patient's condition, or circumstances of their injury, although it did not sound like it was a climber.

What the hell was a non climber doing hanging from a rope on the mountain near Steenbras Dam?
As far as I know, the rock out that way is chossy to say the least and is it not on private land thats not easy to get to.
Sounds like a royal stuff up to me...
