Silvermine - Wed or Thu

Postby Thermophage » Tue May 08, 2012 10:33 am

Hey, is anyone planning on climbing Silvermine tomorrow or on Thursday this week?
I'd like to go out after work and can be there at like 4:30 for a short session if anyone is interested.

Or even The Mine...although I don't know how to get there and it seems it is a longer walk in.
I'm keen on any grade up to around 24/25.

Let me know :)

Cheers,
Cuan

You've never been to the Mine :o (shock and horror)!!!
The walk in is quick and easy - great routes. Don't go there when the South Easter blows.

I've just moved to CT from George and before that from PE :P
Only been climbing for about 1.5 years and never had a chance to climb in CT before this past weekend at Silvermine :P

Any takers? :)

I thought the walk in to The Mine sounded like it took a while from the topo/WC guide? My mistake :P

Ok, you're forgiven ;)
The walk in to The Mine is slightly longer. The big difference between the two is that The Mine is overhanging and Silvermine is mostly vertical.
Enjoy!

Worth noting that, from the 1st of May, the Silvermine gates close at 18h (winter times).. making the Mine an even more attractive option. Also if you got a 4x4 you can reduce the walk in to 5min.

I can have access to a 4x4 on crag days at the Mine :)

Still no takers. Well I guess this close to winter time it is a waste to go unless you can get out there a little earlier.
But I would rather climb outdoors after work if possible than inside :S

Sweet, I should be able to bring it. 4x4 with diff lock ok?
But I can only leave work like 4:15 (although work is literally at the bottom of Ou Kapseweg).
So don't think we'll have tonnes of time?
