Sands of Time hanger missing on P2.
Someone has stolen the hanger, nut and washer off the first bolt on P2 of Sands of Time @ Paarl Rock.
So whoever goes out there next please do us all a favour and take along a 13 mm spanner and the necessary replacement stuff.
MMO/CityROCK are happy to donate one of each if needed.
(P2 is the great dyke pitch, the first bolt prevents a nasty ground fall. You can climb up past the bolt and sling a nice big flake if you have to, but it's not a lot of fun).

Yep, saw this last weekend and was actually going to make a post about it but forgot.
We'd never done this climb before...so just ran it out till the second bolt because we REALLY wanted to climb it...and it looked easy..
BUT...I did poop myself and knew it wasn't lekker, but anyway.
I wonder why it is gone? You think maybe the but was loose and then they got knocked off accidentally and fell in a hole or something?

maybe Hann took it.

If I had more time, and not so distracted by cleaning TM tat, I would have removed the rest of the bolts too.mountainmailorder wrote:maybe Hann took it.
I'm sure the rest of the pitch can be tradded also.....mountainmailorder wrote: You can climb up past the bolt and sling a nice big flake

I would not want to take a fall on any of those flakes between the first and second bolt...
They sound super hollow and exposed granite flakes like that weather VERY quickly in that climate.
And not sure about the rest of the pitch, but really didn't see much place for pro...

Re: Sands of Time hanger missing on P2.
This may be of limited value, but the first hanger on the 2nd Sands of Time pitch now has a nut+washer on it. Before you congratulate me: i just stole if off the unnecessary bolt on the decent route (the hanger had been removed from this bolt, so just the nut+washer remained).
Anyway, if someone has a spare hanger, please go pop it on. Think it's a no. 13 or 1/2 inch spanner. Or take a wire (from a trad nut) and pop it over the nut...that should be more than adequate.
Have fun!

I have put the hanger back - thanks for the Nut and washer - it fell off the last time we were climbing that pitch
