I will not tell in how many places I recognized myself.
Surefire wakeup call for me, and a must-read for all self-validated, self-endorsed fellow climbers.

There is also the industry insider: historically achieving (according to them) climber whose job now interupts there ability to excel to the level they know they are capable, due to retail hours. A minor injury like a sprained ankle years ago or girlfriend is often cited for a secondary cause of their inability. The are held in regard by the community due to their knowedge of gear, areas and industry happenings- but mainly for the prospect of cheap gear. they typically hang around the edges of hard climber's conversations, but rarely have anyhting meaningful to contrabute to it- outside of gear info, when asked.

My 100 days on rock last year was dedicated to them, and former student climbers.

I think I'm somewhere between the self worther and a trainer.

@ warren, some times industry insiders have a very distinctive laugh, and are tall, and have long hair :P
