SA Big walls

Postby Hawkman » Wed Mar 15, 2006 10:04 pm

Or seriously long day epics... Besides blouberg is there anything else around SA that keeps the wall rats busy. I have to do one before I hang up the shoes for good. Not helped by the fact I worked with a guy recently who's done loads in SA and around the world, and was telling me about \"Oceans of Fear\".

You cant stop yet rat, no way there's tons still to do! The Berg, Du Toits Peak, Klein Winterhoek, Krakadouw, Slanghoek and a bunch of other lesser known older (but still serious) trad routes. Dont stop till you drop!

So whats wrong with Blouberg, hey? Theres some fine new big wall routes on the wall of white light, courtesy of Snort, and a couple of new, mostly free and free routes in the moon area. The place is increadible!

Nothing wrong with Blouberg, just wondering what else is available in the \"Fatherland\" since it gets all the press. Coming back home later this year and if I'm up to speed I want to hit some long easy routes (my highest on-site trad flash is a UK E1 5b - ironically in yosemite). So go to crank in the gym for the UK summer and go look for some \"character building\" epics in wales or the lakes district before I come and terrify myself back home.
