Go WORK for a clothing company or shop, maybe then you'd get some gear for what is generally known in the business as 'staff price or 'staff deals'...

you must be pretty hot to think you can get a clothing sponsor.....

Erm, this kinda made my day....

get noticed by the companies, once they feel you might bring money to them they might just consider you.

You need to
1) Persuade the brand / shop that you are an opinion leader in the appropriate market segment,
Usually by actions/reputation rather than persuasion in their office. (Self fulfilling prophecy - if they've heard of you, they'll believe you - if they havn't heard of you, you probably aren't ;-) )
2) Persuade them that you will be a good brand ambassador for them. Nothing breaks credibility (yours and your brands) worse than a sponsored athlete who doesn't really believe in the kit but likes free stuff, or an athlete who is sponsored by a different brand every season.

Think of it as a marketing contract like any other.

Lastly, don't kid yourself that you're going to make a fortune and retire young. It just makes a few more climbing trips a little more accessable.

Hi Airborne,

What kind of sponsorship are you talking about - for you, or for an organisation, or for an event? If its for you, this may be difficult as competition is stiff. If it is for an organisation, take a proposal to the major players, they may be able to help with an assist - you don't get free stuff though. If it is for an event, many local manufacturers my support you - if you provide them with enough coverage.
