Based on the reviews written for each tent (on the product pages - links above) I would go for the TNF tent. I own a TNF tent, nothing to complain about and it is still going strong.

Tough decision! I'd be interested to know which one you go for?

Speaking of long lasting tents..

Does anybody know where I can source 3mm diameter elasticated shock cord? You know, that stuff that's strung up the centre of your collapsible tent poles, but perishes long before the rest of the tent..
At the chaaaaains boet!!

found a couple of reviews on trailspace
do not think you will make a mistake choosing either - maybe price should be the decider. i have not owned a MHW tent but in everything else their gear is simply a step up from any other brand i've used (TNF included).

btw, if you're shopping overseas you can also sale-search for marmot, sierra designs, big agnes & MSR - all in the same class. and locally i do not think you will get better bang for your buck than with e3.

I've actually got a Mountain Hardware Hammerhead 3. One of my friend's was looking for a tent and I said he should go with the Mountain Hardware and he wanted the North Face tent. He went with the North Face and he got it last week.

We haven't taken it outdoors yet but just putting it up in his garden this is what I can say for other people that may have the same decision. Although the North Face tent really is a great tent I think my Mountain Hardware seems to have better zips, clips (the ones that attach to the poles) and overall more sturdiness.

That said, however, the Northface tent my friend bought isn't directly comparable to the Hammerhead 3 so perhaps a direct comparison with the Mountain Hardware tent (linked above) would result in a different perspective on the two.

Just my subjective opinion on the matter.

@Wes, seriously... those tents are not in the same league... I do own one(unfortunately). buying cheap is buying expensive.
