Hi,
I'm looking for a 3 person tent for camping but good enough for say hiking in the Berg in Spring, Summer or Autumn. I'm looking at spending between R1-R2k.
The 2 tents that appeal to me the most so far are:
Outdoor Warehouse's 360 Degrees Summit 3 Hikers Tent or
Cape Union Mart's K-Way Treklite 3 person tent.
Does anyone have any reviews on these tents or know of any other similar tents they would recommend?
Thanks,
3 person tents

Goedkoop koop is duur koop!

Get any E3, Mountain Hardware or MSR tent, and you'll still be camping in it when your friends buy their 4th CUM(Cape Union Mart) tent...
imho

I bought a Mountain Hardware 3 Hammerhead 3 and it's done the job so far for sure. Not the smallest packing tent for hiking but a really awesome tent. Maybe one of the lighter weight Mountain Hardware tents will suit you better but I definitely recommend their tents.

I can't agree more. You are not going to get a 3-season, 3-man tent that will take Berg weather for that kind of price. The K-Way or 360 degree ones will not last.
Try the Black Diamond Skylight.

I recently bought a treklite II and have to say that for the price I am very happy with it - been on a couple of missions with it and stayed dry. The seller for me was alloy poles. Obviously won't last as long as an MSR or similar but I rekon I'll get at least 3-4 years of occasional camping and hike camping out of it and it stands up pretty well in the wind with a very similar design to the Mountain Hardwear 2 person. All depends on how heavily you will use it I suppose?

my E3 Escape still going strong 6 years now - no probs, regular use...
Haven't even used all the tie in lanyards yet.
And its not even a well known brand, but with these things, the price usually says durable.

reminds me of a saying i heard recently:

The e3 Endurance 2 is a 2-3 man tent, it cost about R2300. we've hiked in the berg with it, it can take strong winds, and preformed really well
