Sport climbing near Darwin or in Bali/Indonesia?

Post by Sam » Mon Jun 04, 2007 8:28 am

Hey guys,

Myself and the girlfriend are heading to Oz, specifically Darwin in the Northern Territory, in a few days time (7 June, 07). We're loath to leave our climbing stuff behind since we'll be away for about 3 months. Firstly, I was wondering if there are any decent sport climbing areas around Darwin (perhaps in Kakadu)?

Hopefully we'll get a chance for a short trip to either Bali or Indonesia. I've seen some awesome photo's of climbing in Thailand but I've not heard of any reputable spots in these two places. And for once, Google has let me down! Surely there must be a couple of decent areas to sport climb? Perhaps you can shed some light...

I think I'm too late and you guy's are allready airborne. There is climbing arround Darwin. Don't know where or how much. I was there in 1999, I mysels was not into climbing yet but the guys we stayed at for 3 months went climbing for an afternoon and showed us the footage of it.

Cheers and enjoy the trip, Kakadu is awsome. We did the day hike around Nourlangie rock.
