Did you forget you favourite boots at the crag? Or, did you find some quickdraw on the 4th bolt of some route?

Hey all
Yesterday I climbed Africa Crag for the first time - spectacular stuff! However, on pitch 3 (second pitch after Upper Africa Ledge) a purple BD Camalot #.5 walked into a crack and my second was unable to retrieve it. From his description I think with some time and care it is still salvagable (we were quite late so had no time to return), so I'll go back for it some time. If anyone finds it (or hear of a buddy who found it) please let me know. There is also a biner still attached to the unit's sling

.
Cheers

I'll be back on Saturday 5 Feb to retrieve said cam, so please leave in place if you happen upon it this week. And the biner (for the life of me I don't know why my second didn't at least salvage that!).
If it ain't there - pierre, I can find out where you live!

Oh I'd love being able to get your cam sometime this week... only be down that side after the 18th. You can be lucky

Lukas, go climb it after work you lazy bones! Take Mokganjetsi with you, he must become fit, I'm tired of waiting for him on walk-ins

BTW if the cam is gone, it is your second's responsibility to get you a new one. It was his job to retrieve it in the first place. He can be exempted from above only if it was you who made a dumb-ass placement.

lol!!!
Hann kindly joined me for the rescue after patiently putting up with my incompetence on Bombay Duck. There were two ladies on Africa Crag already and they managed to retrieve the cam. However after that they disappeared. If any of you two are on the forum, would you please PM me?
Cheers

bad girls!!
the problem is that not everybody reads the forum....... but a brand new BD cam will certainly feature in post-climb bragging sessions, so kindly point out to said ladies that the cam's owner went to retrieve it and they just happened to be there 1st. hopefully they will do the right thing

The cam was returned to Gollum.
I remember many offers of bottles of wine too.
The ladies only picked up the nut and biner.

well gollum, if the ladies are real "bergbokkies" you could offer a bottle of wine and good company to enjoy it with. i'll be happy to second on that one

Indeed, someone did mention wine
So, still PM me (or if they're not on here but some of their acquaintances are) as the offer still stands.

I am sick of these upcountry types coming to Cape Town and messing up our mountain with their litter. As a fine for littering I am coming to confiscate all your gear Gollum, please pm me your address. This way it will be quicker than only getting one piece a week.

I see you making some good friends down there...
You're welcome to come back!
