Namibia / Spitzkoppe climbing

Postby robi » Sat Apr 30, 2005 9:24 am

I'm looking for general information about climbing in the area of Spitzkoppe in Namibia. I have Eckhardt Haber's climbing guide, but still have a lot of questions (camping, water, climbing gear, etc.) Can anyone help? Thanks, Robi

Take your own water, toilet paper, sunscreen, basically everything man. There are some long drop toilets and not much else besides awesome scenery and more awesome climbing. Go to Paarl rock to practice friction before you go. You get a discount at the gate if you say u are a climber. Be ready for some nice long run-outs. Take trad gear if you want to summit or do any of the BIG routes. The (new) spanish routes are bolted well. Actually overbolted in relation to the other routes. Take 2 60m ropes, you need them to absail down most routes. Enjoy, its a fantastic place :D
