Resoling services

Postby Baldrick » Mon Jan 17, 2011 10:41 am

Hello everyone with broken shoes...
Vertical World Equipment (Pty)Ltd recently bought Rock Frog Resoling and have been perfecting the art of resoles over the past 2 months. We are now officially open for business and welcome all types of climbing shoes to be sorted out.
Our rubber of choice is Vibram XSG, the latest and stickiest rubber available from Vibram which is delivering exceptional results both in quality and friction.
We are based in Jhb and our normal drop off/pick up point is the Wonderwall gym, Kyasands. Other areas will be catered for by post, details at the end. Turn around time is approx 2 weeks.
Our details are:
Nigel Bailes 082 4402703
Chris de Beer 083 6450971
Jurgen Vogt 082 4496064
Pricing has been slightly increased for 2011 and we charge R325.00 for a resole and R375.00 for resole + rerand, excluding postage.

Good to know! I need a repair on one of my shoes, so I'll bring it one day, maybe (hopefully) you can fix it.

Just out of curiosity, you said your choice of rubber is Vibram, but do you also have Stealth? Call it undying love or whatever, but Stealth will rule forever in my little world.

Hi Shorti,

as stated, Vibram is our rubber from now on. I am sure that you will change your mind after testing.

I personally have found that Vibram is good sticky rubber but does wear quickly. I'm with Shorti on Stealth, they have got their mixture of durability and stickiness just right.

Baldrick, could you not offer to resole with a couple different types of rubber?

at the moment we only have one supplier of rubber which is specific for our Rock Pillars brand of shoes. We are looking at other suppliers so hopefully something will happen in the near future. So it is Vibram for now with the possibility of other rubber soon. Vibram XS Grip is the latest from Vibram and to quote their web site:
"VIBRAM® XS Grip is a rubber compound that offers 30% more adherence to smooth surfaces than previous formulas. VIBRAM® XS Grip brings adherence to a new level under hot or cold conditions, creating more opportunities for free climbers."
