Hi
So how did everybody do on there respective goals/dreams? I was pretty dismal for the first 9 months but managed to get a couple of things done in the last couple of months. Lots of my list is still there though and it had a couple of additions.

cheers
Ian

A whole more tradding, while losing 10 kgs :thumleft: and then climb a classic 25, gotta do a 5.12 before I perish! At 48 yrs I gotta keep my goals realistic.

And then theres that damn Power Pigeon with no rests, just keeps on beating me

Safe climbing

I feel inspired just reading this thread :thumleft:
- Climb more
- Breath more fresh mountain air
- Take more long weekends to Montagu and Cederberg
- Have more adventures and maybe an epic or two to keep me humble
...quantified: Consistently climb 24 on sport and 20 on trad

Have a great 2011!

onsight a 21 sport climb. a 22 after that.
lead a 5-star trad route

okay, so i'm still shouting "take" before i fall
the 2010 ticklist:
did not go to tafelberg or that secret place.
introduced 6 or 7 people to climbing :thumleft:
must be close to 5 new climbing friends in weird and wonderful places :alien:
single malt and cherry cigar happened often :)
the onsight.... dang! failed.
did lead climb 5-star trad. cederberg corner in magalies. so what if it's the easiest 12 graded 10. and shorti was there!

2011:
lead climb more trad. lots & lots.
milk the CT summer by climbing on lion's head and TM during the week after work.
get shorti to move to CT so that he can help me milk the CT summer
climb in europe (spain & france)
redpoint 24 on sport.
stop buying gear i do not really need.
fall before i shout take. on sport only :)

Sorry mate, that one doesn't count! It's a good route sure, but not quite 5 stars and it is way too straight forward and doesn't test much. Routes that I'll take: The Moke, Bombay Duck, Hourglass, Red Corner and Boggle. Routes that don't count, good as they are: Jacob's Ladder, Clifton Crest, Le Grande Gul. I think true 5 star routes should not only be good to climb and beautiful, but they should also test most of the important traddie requirements: courage, creativity, problem solving, trust in gear placements, trust in own ability, gear and rope management, focus and determination. The routes I mentioned are within your capability :thumleft:

I ticked more than half the stuff on my list, but I think I failed overall. At least I had fun. I didn't even bother with Superfly. Maybe I'll be in shape soon...

Only thing I'd like to add to my list for this year is to climb a big route at Blouberg with Marley.

duuude, you're not making it easy! granted, cederberg corner is a walk in the park. i think jacob's is proper trad though - you were seriously in the zone when you climbed it. and you have to be kidding me about boggle :eye: !!?? maybe the end of this year if it goes injury free :thumleft:

Ok, Mok! I'll challenge you to that lead on 24 sport climbing :)

And then it's Jacob's ladder for lead on trad :thumright

Ok, on a more serious note...

2010 - lead Knobless Robot - first pitch. 2011 - This year to do the second and to lead Jacob's Ladder after seconding it last week.
Re sport climbing - red point Sickle Moon and The Abyss (Truitjies Kraal). Next Nuromancer at The Palace.

Rid myself of any fear when leading :pukel:

Get our new club going and get the south coast (Margate) climbing as we have awesome crags but no climbers (it seems no climbers) in the area.

Get fit and get my head sorted between bolts.
Do some trading in the kloofs to sharpen up the trad again
Do some long trad lines(maybe sleep on a rock face)
Go back to the 'Berg' to climb 2 or 3 routes : Angus-lappan
:Pyramid South face
:maybe try Cleft Peak Godbond's frontal.

Happy new year guys
I achieved my one 2010 goal which was to lead 20 trad...albeit ''Another Nefarious Crack'' at the Higgovale quarry. I hope that still counts, very, very exciting to red point it on gear. Excellent fun !
Got no where close to my sport climbing goal of climbing 25....but managed a few 22's. 25 aint gonna happen without a massive investment in training as well as working on technique.
Biggest highlite of 2010 was the birth of my 2nd daughter :thumright
My climbing goal for 2011 will be back to the drawing board and doing a 25 on sport.
cheers to everyone

I have two major goals for the year I guess. Do my first 8A boulder problem and do the first repeat of Boa Rodeo in Waterval Boven, placing gear. I can see the trad line happening really easily but 8A is really hard. Gonna have to actually work very hard to achieve that one... Stormwatch is also on this year's tick list, as is Jabberwocky.
I hate this real world place... I'd be more than happy to live out there rather...

I never did go back to open it. I suppose someone else should head over there and try it. It's officially an open project now...

I've got about 5/6 projects at different areas around the Cape I've worked on, but still have to redpoint

On trad:
Complete a project that has been slumbering way too long
Do some more single pitches at Hellfire & perhaps open another line or 2.

I fell without shouting 'take'... sometimes, twice even to the ground!, but not always.

There were 5/6 projects.... (I can't remember which they were at the time I wrote this!) There are now 5: Trance Dance, Jimmy and the big boys, Red Guitar on Fire, Schlot Machine, Cyberpunk.

That project is still slumbering, Physiolizard!! :bounce:

Did some more single pitches at Hellfire, and Lion's Head, Truitjieskraal and some multi-pitches on Table Mountain.

I did not open another line (or 2). :pale:

Armaggedon time, Africa Arete, Arms Race, Captain hook, North west frontal, Exposure and just too many more to mention. My project list grows longer each year  . I'd also like to stop being so such a wimp and take bigger falls. Help out with the ARF.

I did ok last year as far as climbing trips go, but still ticked off too few of my issues.
At least this year's off to a flying start - I finally got up Dogstyle on sunday :). There's still a whole host of issues in the kloofs though - much the same as last year.
Other goals for 2011 - learn to climb big walls properly (Yosemite :thumleft: ), learn some alpine skills (Kenya :thumright ), go on more road trips and open a kukhuisvol of new routes!

How about you, vander?
Stuck to all the sport goals plus a few extras, but yet again slipped up on the "project"! Physiolizard, we MUST stick to our guns this year!!
For 2012: Exposure, Roulette, Skinny Legs and All, If I Go it Will be Double, Lord Melbury, Hellfire, Losing my Religion, Midnite Mass and Church of Frederico.
Then, depending on trips and partners: Little Red Riding Helmet, King Cobra, Thruster, Mercury, No Man's Land, Paws, Omega, Red Rooster.
Tall order!

This was last years dream.

I could steal a line from each of the above.
-8kg. stay injury free. open some of those projects. etc
I'd also like to bolt a few more routes and climb more consistently.
But most of all have a good time doing whatever it is I'm doing

Only lost 4kg. no projects opened. Bolted 2 routes. lots of injuries and climbed as consistently as a injured guy can.

This year I just want to open one bolted project and climb lots of trad.

Garvin
PS I'm heading for a trad weekend at Morgan Bay. A good start, I think.

Wow Brenda! That is a tall order :thumleft: Kap 'it flou!

I didn't quite achieve everything to the T (consistantly climbing 24 on sport and 20 trad) but did manage 2/3 pitches of 20 on trad and a 23/24 on sport and started working a 25, so I'm pretty stoked, but the biggest achievement/prize of last year was definitely the great people I met and amazing friends I made. Climbed more and harder, laughed more, spent more time in beautiful places, got more scared and more tired than ever before! Best year so far!! Here's to an even better one :thumleft:

Goals for 2012: 27 on sport. 22 on trad. More time in the Cederberg. Climb 12-15 pitches in a day on a regular basis.

Yeehaa!
