Big walls in Du Toits Kloof

Post by TianB » Sat Dec 17, 2005 1:59 am

I’m looking for a 2 day free trad route in Du toits kloof. Or a route with a good lege somewhere to sleep on. Anything up to grade 18 would be cool. Do anyone know of any such climbs or possibilities in the area. Even if the route can be done in a day.

Cheers

Hey Tian,

I you are looking for a halfway ledge than Yellowwood Amphitheatre is a good place to check out. It has a halfway ledge if you need it or feel like climbing slow, though the routes can be done in a day. Grades range from 19/20 - 26. However there is a route that only has one pitch 22 and the rest are 20 and down. The walk in can be deceptive though but is not that bad. Have fun.

Where can I find some specific route info or topos of that routes .Currently doing winter stuff in Scotland so if anyone can help with some beta or photo’s that would help to plan the climb. Haven’t climb in the kloof yet.

Cheers

If memory serves me correct take a look at the 77, 87and 88 MCSA Journals. There are also a number of newer routes.
