Study Abroad - U of Cape Town or Western Cape Town?

Postby somerlad » Wed Dec 07, 2005 7:13 am

I assume these are the ways to go as far as climbing in South Africa. I'm not goint to go to a school just based on the climbing, but if I find out that CT and WCT offer what I want to study then this would certainly help me make my decision.

Thanks,
Somerlad

You could do a lot worse than choosing Cape Town as your destination! Good luck, I hope one of the two universities has what you're looking for.

As far as the rock goes.... the Mother City and surrounds will have all you're looking for.

Cape Town rocks!
There is a huge amount of climbing within the city limits.
Lots of sport routes ranging from really easy to really hard.
Big trad routes on Table Mountain, (plenty of them), lots of trad on Muizenburg and Elsies peak. Boudering everywhere. It really is paradise for a climber. Lots of variety as well.
Then theres Montague, Rocklands and the Cedarburg, all suitable for a weekend trip.
I reckon within a 10km radius of my house there are about 200 sport routes, 200 trad routes and 2000 awesome boulders, enough to keep me busy for a looong time :D
