Leaver-biners?

Postby Stu » Tue Apr 27, 2010 4:24 pm

Which one of these biners would be best suited to withstand the elements (rain, etc.) if left as a permanent leaver-biner at a stance? The links take quite a while to load..

First choice:
Steel Oval Screw Gate

Second choice:
MMO Steel Oval Screw Gate

Third choice:
Rappel Steel Oval Screw Gate

Your best bet might actually to get a stainless steel carabiner, try somewhere that sells rope access stuff or failing that, an aluminium one will corrode less quickly than a galvanized or untreated steel carabiner.

Right, so none of those are actually stainless steel, just regular steel biners?

Yes, they're all just plain steel biners.

Shot, in that case I'll just leave some of my well used aluminium biners up there, and replace those with some much needed shiney new ones :)

It's only for a couple of trade routes for convenience, the rest will be equipped with the 'standard gear'. Experimenting with what works best.
