Hi guys,

A while ago a saw there was some muggings/break ins in the Magalies (cederberg/tonquani and mountain sanctuary). Does anybody know if there was any more incedents? I've been out of action for a while due to torn meniscus.

Thanks,

Willem

Coast has been clear for a while now - I go to MSP/Tonqs often and haven't since the last reported muggings picked up any stories of more such incidents.

Its passable, but go slowly. If you have are really low car you will struggle.
On the muggings: I spoke to the girl at reception at MSP about 3-4 weeks ago and she said they have had no further issues.

Cheers
Ian

Dear ol' Shorti went for flying lessons. That road is nothing more than a cobweb of potholes connected with some sand in between. Airtime is possible... actually, probable... actually... ehm... immanent.

(Willemeulen: It's a scenic drive, but actually takes longer than driving around. Also probably lethal when wet.)

The first part of the road I'm always flying past its only when road goes up I start going slow, as well as the downhill on the other side. Driving around which way is quicker heinrich, past the dam turning to wigwam?

Well, it was a pretty smooth and uneventful flight really. It was on that bit where Willemeulen is flying about - the long downhill stretch on the Southern side of the mountain. There is a T-junction coming in from the left. At the junction there is also a very good launch pad. We took off at about 80 (i think) and we had some heavy blokes in the back to counter the weight of the engine and balance our craft. Our flight time was short, only about a second, but it went smooth and the landing was impeccable, only a slight wobble as we touched down on the other side of the junction. And this my friends is how my car got its name The Flying Kia from Snor City

Hey Emile, life's good mate! Haven't seen you in ages and I got some really good sleep in (except for last night, we won a quiz comp in an Irish pub last night - they had Guinness on tap - and this morning my bloody Flying Kia woke me up at 6 by sounding the alarm - grrrr)

Willemeulen, yes: pass the dam and then turn right as for wigwam. Carry on with that road until you get signs for "Magalies Conopy Tours" / "Sparkling water hotel" - Turn right (it is the last turn-off before you get to the N4). Carry on with that road, past the next set of signs for magalies canopy tour / sparkling water hotel (i.e. don't turn at those signs, but carry on straight). The next turn-off to the right has a sign "Mountain Sanctuary Park" (MSP) - Turn right then. This will change into a dirt road and soonish you will see a turn-ff to the left, with a small tuck-shop on the corner - turn left. Follow the road and MSP signs. MSP is about 15 km after Wigwam and Fernkloof.
