Stellenbosch
Hi
Is there anywhere in Stellenbosch that one can go for a quick lunchtime crank? I've heard that a climbing wall was possibley going up somewhere.
Thanks
Mark

Re: Stellenbosch
There used to be 2 walls in Stellies.
One, the boulder cave at the Neelsie (still there)
The second a boulder, lead, toprope wall at Perfect Health gym.
The Perfect Health gym is in the process of moving and we are all waiting for some news concerning.
Anybody??

Re: Stellenbosch
All the Gym people (PH staff) I speak to assures me its going to happen, but last I heard they are still waiting for approval from the municipality to actually build the area where they want to build the wall. Note I am not saying they are waiting for approval to build the wall, but to extend the building to create an area where they can build the wall.
Sounds to me this might take a while
(that's if it'll happen at all)
Neelsie it is then

Re: Stellenbosch
Thanks. Is the Neelsie wall open to anyone or only to students? Don't mind paying to use it.

Hi
As far as I know it is only open to members to the Berg en Toer Klub but I don't know if you have to be a student to join that. You can try their website

Hi
One use to be able to get membership (and thus card access) without bieng a student from the BTK at about R150 a year. Their office on the top floor of the neelsie is open between 1h and 2h during the week.
The door to the wall is however kinda busted at the moment and thus open.
Check it out
Cheers

2nd hand shoes. ayoba or not-ayoba? I am a complete new comer to this sport.
Re: Stellenbosch
2nd hand shoes can be ok, a bit like sharing a pair of underwear tho....
Not ayoba: any weight-bearing gear like ropes, harnesses and carabiners - they must save your life, you don't want to mess with that...

2nd hand shoes ayoba, just give them a hand wash, a rinse with vinegar will help kill bacteria.
2nd hand undies from Turtle no ayoba

Re: Stellenbosch

Re: Stellenbosch
A lot of people sell their stuff second hand at CityRock in Observatory.
Alternatively, keep an eye on the forum.

Re: Stellenbosch
Thanx for the ad burgman, but we do not sell second hand gear at CityROCK - we do however have a notice board any member can come and post stuff on - you create a small flyer (we'll just remove the A1 sized poster, throw it away) and put it on the board yourself.
Or try THIS excellent site: post your request here - I hear many sold their stuff this way...
@ Leebo, and anyone who cares: I also personally sell second hand toothbrushes, bunion plasters and burn dressings to go with any 2nd hand shoes...

Hey Jaak.
I'll give you R5 for your red Oral B.
R5,50 if i can have some used aquafresh too.
And how about R2,50 for that sexy ninja turtle tanga undies we always see riding up?
Is 'stellenbosch' the best topic to be discussing 'second hand gear' under?
