Been looking at buying new rope(s) and went to the effort of putting together a rope matrix with the major brands of ropes with their vital statistics.

....hopefully this will be useful for someone else. I can't upload .xls files, so I've provided a link to download it.

I have a Beal Edlinger and a Beal Top Gun. I really like my Edlinger for use in dry conditions and its fairly cheap - notice its missing from your matrix.

Thanks for that, but if its not on the manufacturer's site, then it didn't make it into the matrix.

...My guess is they've stopped making the Edlinger so didn't want to put something onto the list that wouldn't be easily available. i.e. stuff that couldn't be ordered as new stock.

Also I limited the list to manufacturers that I know are or have been imported into ZA.

Interesting...

I bought my Edlinger less than a year ago at Seven Summits (Mountain mail order), and recently picked up a glossy Beal catalogue with the Edlinger in it. The Edlinger is still on the MMO website, but now that the rope has been mentioned guess people can add it as they see fit.

...fair enough. Just from a research point of view it wasn't practical for me to try and track down stats from other sites other than the manufacturers.

I'm more than happy to keep it going if people want to add to it and send it to me. I can update the file.
