SAClimbinn KyaSands - membership gets better and better?

Postby Mark » Tue Jul 19, 2005 2:33 pm

I may be talking out of turn, but the membership contracts at the gym seem to be gettting better and better, they are now offering a life membership for an additional R520, when things are that great I get suspicious - be careful

Kya Sands sucks

Sorry, but these people make very little effort. The gym is a pigsty all the time, and a big dissappointment compared to their previous spot. I understand that they moved at short notice and money might be tight, but stick down the carpets, maintain the routes properly, give it a lick of paint where needed, put up the benches in the change rooms and tidy it up. Where's the bouldering cave? Lying in a huge pile of dismantled pieces on the way to the john. (take your own loo paper unless you enjoy walking the length of the gym with a roll of loo paper in your hand). I got an SMS the other day offering life membership for R 899. I didn't take it up. You just get the feeling they're not interested.

I reckon the gym is in trouble. The problem is what do we do if it closes down? Does anyone know of any other gyms in the area cos I sure don't. We really need is some coporates to step up to the plate, why not stick up a decent wall or bouldering room in your shop or gym (virgin active would suit me just fine) ...

it's not surprising

hey, what's 'lifetime' mean?! whata joke. We had over 100 posts on rock addiction about these crooks and not a single reply from the actual gym owners themselves. all that happened is that the threatened RA and made them take the post off their site. These guys are as much theives as the guys who steal diamonds. We as climbers have let them get away with this cuc for years. Just don't go to the gym dudes! if you get 4 or 5 buds, take that 900 thabo's and multiply it, you take the 5k and build a rad garage wall of your own.

If anyone takes this life membership then they are certainly just as dumb as the idiots who get scammed in those 419 nigerian card fraud cases.

Built a 3m high wall at 45 degree's in a 2.5m high room. It works great and cost about R2 000 (not quite full of grips yet however). Save up and build your own if things get bad.

Shame, sucks that your gym is that bad!!
Funny, but i have never heard any good comments about that place...time
to get new managment or somethin.

well if any of you are ever down in the cape you should check out CityROCK, these guys have got it together.
Hell you don't even get through the door unless you have signed a waiver or been checked on their system. Plus they are strict on their saftey as well, constant supervision and belay test for every one no matter how great a climber you may be.

Mabey they can give a tip or two to the guys at your doddgy gym.

well i hope at least that things get better with the gym...places like that give climbing a bad name.
