Bronkies routes

Thanks to the guys/girls that opened the 3 new routes at Bronkies over the last 2 weeks.

Gives us all something new to climb. So well done.

Question, don't you think the 19, Lamb to the Slaughter, is possibly harder than 19. I'm no expert on these things, but seems a lot harder than the other 19's at the crag, even some 20's

I personally think the route is a 19.It may just be slightly more sustained than some of the other 19 grades in the area, but the crux in my opinion remains a 19.

oubaas, talking about the crux from bolt 1 to 4? i vote that it merits an upgrade - much the same way a grade 36 route might consist of two or three moves that would score only 34/35 individually on bouldering.

i felt its as difficult (if not more) than some other 20s around. might feel different once i cracked it though.....

nag ou grote

Mnr Mok. Firstly this isn't bouldering and secondly don't try to justify the upgrading of a route simply because the crux section is longer than the one move crux climbs you seem to be used to. I think its a 19 of fighting standard..... Nag mnr Mok

oubaas, no need to get you knickers in a knot. Mok just stating his opinion, which as far as I know is the method for grading routes.

he oubass ja jammer man, did not mean to give you carrots on the grading - always a subjective issue i guess. from what i've read it is acceptable to upgrade a route by one notch if there is a number of high-difficulty moves for the proposed grade. debateble for sure. always subjective.

Hey all, nice to hear these great news. Would someone be able to add the info to the RD or is there any other way to find out more about the routes (names, spot, and gradings)?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Oubaas, if you do the RD, please can you also update the Bronkies page on climb.shortURL.com as well. I've added some of the new routes, but can't remember the name of the new 20, next to Lamb to the Slaughter.

Gawitz, look under http://www.climbing.co.za/topo.asp?id=37 or climb.shortURL.com for the existing RD.
