Climbing at Howick falls 28/29 Dec

Postby karinebezuidenhout » Thu Dec 05, 2013 11:06 pm

Is anyone climbing at Howick falls around the 29th of Dec? My partner and me are traveling through Howick and very keen to climb there but never been there before and would love to go with people that know the area.

Go check out umgeni valley instead...its just down the road from howick falls...but the quality of the rock and routes are far superior to howick falls + cleaner environment

Well yes, Umgeni is "nicer", but the setting of Howick Falls is spectacular and is still one of the most fun places to climb around here. Go early morning before the sun gets too fierce (and before there are too many drunk guys hanging around the top), and then head to Umgeni after.
Unfortunately I'm away then otherwise I'd happily take you, but if you know what you're doing as far as multi-pitch climbing goes, then you should go for it yourself. Check out the route guide carefully, and don't do the bottom pitch, just abseil in to the Stagefright ledge (I'm assuming you aren't going to the Dark Side...)
I'll ask around and see if there's anyone that would be keen to join you...

Thanx for the advice! I can't seem to find the route guide online, can someone please help me out? And yes, would be great if you guys know of people climbing during that time!
