The "amphitheatre" at the start of Kloof Corner

Post by GBM » Wed Jul 23, 2008 7:26 pm

Hi All

We often walk up the path that leads to the start of the Kloof Ridge scramble. Just around the corner and looking out over Camps Bay is the sheltered amphitheatre which is slightly overhanging and probably about 60/70 m or so. I have often looked up at what appear to be really interesting looking trad lines in the amphitheatre; has anyone every climbed any lines here. Does anyone know whether the area is good or bad rock? Looking forward to any info in this regard.

This is an awesome little amphitheater. I've not found any documented routes on it, but a few years ago we climbed some lines on there. Some cool ledges and breaks. We didn't top out though. Actually ended up downclimbing. There is a chunky bush/tree a ways up. Probably could ab off this?
It would be crappy to climb this place on a weekend though as hikers/walkers would most likely stand around and gawk. Pretty sucky, unless some minor glory is your bag. :afro:
