Rope length for waterval boven crags

Postby Anonymous » Fri Dec 01, 2006 12:17 pm

Hello I m french, I will be travelling in South Africa in April and would like to climb in Waterval Boven (I have seen pictures, it s really attractive!) What are the length of the routes (grade 5sup untill 6c)? I need to take a rope in my backpack and would like to save volume and weight.
Thanks in advance

60 meter rope should be fine for the grades you're talking about.

Disclaimer: tie knots on both ends of the rope :D

Hey Michael

There are a handful of routes that need a 60m rope, but the majority of the routes at Boven can be safely climbed on a 50m line.

Open hand, open mind...
