Hey, check out gumtree. There is a pair of Boreal size 9 and chalk bag. R500.
There is another post for some other gear that includes belay and harness also for R500 so go check it out.
Good luck

That weird because my first set of climing gear was like brand new and I paid R1000 for - La sportiva shoes, a harness and ATC.

I don't mind paying more but thats my ideal target.

Are Boreals good shoes? sounds like they've been around forever?

Boreal is a good brand of shoe. The shoes in the link appear to be Boreal Zens - just make sure they fit you properly :)

Agreed...

Next: Save yourself time & money - go to a store find a pair of shoes and a harness that fit you right (ideally from one of the stores advertising on this site :thumleft:
The gear will be new (100% safe) and the shoes will be comfortable.

And then you go climbing sooner 8)

CityROCK always have specials on beginner packages consisting of any shoe, harness, belay device and carabiner. Price may range between R1322 and R2200, depending on the goods you take.

That's the best you can do for new gear, good advice and excellent variety, imho!

Thanks for all your help guys.
I always like 2ns hand gear when I try something new so it doesn't cost me a lot of money to try it out.
once I'm serious into it then I'll get new gear.

I've started many sports like this and found that they were just not for me, and then selling the gear means i made my money back.

But I might just buy new if we're talking an extra R500....

Dont forget you will need a screwgate carabiner as well.

I know you didnt ask for a chalkbag, so maybe you have one already but I have an old one that you are welcome to have.

Ha Ha, looking at the 'lost' notices on this site you could probably just wander around our crags and pick up whatever you need! :) :jocolor:
