Trad Solo Techniques

Has anyone got any tips on trad soloing. Mainly on how to clean after doing a traverse. The way I figure is before doing the traverse, make sure that there is a placement for pro that will allow for sideward pull, allowing you to go down when cleaning Thanks.

if you dont place any gear as in free soloing then you wont have to clean anything either

Sorry dude If you are rope-soloing, you climb things twice a lot. Traverses are a problem. YOU can \"leap-frog\" pieces, but this is extremely risky, although safer than a free-solo. Really I recommend you resign yourself to climbing the pitch twice. It is not the best, but it gives you a workout, and it is almost bomb-proof. if it is an Aid pitch, you can try for a pendulum move? Again that might be worse than just climbing it twice, as your then only clipping pieces already in place to clean the pitch.

One technique I figured out is to pull up as much rope as possible, just ab past the piece and continue down to stance. Clean it on the way up. As long as the pitch isn't too long and your stance is not too far over. Darn, this rope soloing is alot of work, wow. Climbed a 3 pitch route the other day and felt like I was three quarters up Exposure!!
