Trekking in South America

Postby wravenant » Mon May 16, 2016 9:31 am

Hi everybody

I am thinking of spending 2-3 weeks in South America in Sept this year.

Any suggestions on good treks/hikes.

I remember somebody doing a great talk/presentation on his experience there a while back(probably a year) on a Tuesday at the MCSA. Cant remember much else though.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

torres del paine - full circuit; 11+ days (can do lots of side trips off the main trail). magic. don't go in peak season though. features on just about any list of the top treks in the world.
cochamo valley - remote & mind blowing. http://www.cochamo.com/trekking/
trekking around bariloche
day hikes and short treks near fitzroy

you can get a bunch of info on the internet, but tfor the detail options get a guide book (no need to use expensive tour operators or guides).
