Muggings at Boven

Postby Liz » Mon Dec 05, 2011 6:46 am

I heard that people were mugged at the waterfall this weekend (I don't know whether they are climbers). Also a couple of weeks ago people were held up at knife point at Flying is Fun crag. It's starting again...

Hey Guys

Just to keep everyone in the loop. Unfortunately we had an incident at the waterfall a couple of days ago, nobody got hurt and the thief only got away with a pair of sunglasses and a penknife. It was an isolated case, with a opportunistic thief and we are doing everything we can on this side to prevent any more incidents.

As for the Elandskrans incident, that took place during a trance festival held in November, the guys involved were not climbers but people from the festival. Elandskrans is closed at the moment which is unfortunate since there is no security at the moment. We are aware of these incidents and will keep everyone informed.

Feel free to pop in at the Roc 'n Rope office for advice and recommended areas.

Please keep clear of the Sport Valley climbing areas until further notice. There was a mugging this afternoon at Flying is Fun. Climber's are unhurt but shaken up. We will let you know when it is safe to go climbing in those areas again.
