Art Works

Postby XMod » Thu Feb 05, 2009 9:23 pm

Im starting this thread for artists to post up work they have done for our visual entertainment and appreciation. NOTE: This is not a discussion thread so please dont post arbitrary chitchat here, if however you wish to leave an appreciative message for one of the artists that would be cool. NO ABUSE or negative criticism will be tolerated! Some artists may just be starting out and should be allowed to put their work forward in a supportive and tolerant environment, please respect this. This thread will run continually like JOTD.

ARTISTS: Original works only please, NO plagarism. If possible load your work onto a site such as http://www.deviantart.com or http://www.flickr.com and then simply post the url using the image button, this will save filling up this server with too much data over time. You can read how to do this here. If you do upload to this server please reduce the pictures to between 700 and 1000 pixels wide (the first example below is 700 wide), thanks. In the post subject field type the title of your work if it has one, some details of the medium and method can be written below the picture. If you wish to post links to your own page/site and or contact details (comissions maybe?) that would be cool to. Use a yahoo or hotmail type address for contact details not your home phone number or main e-mail address so as to avoid spam and wierdo stalkers (b safe!).

ART: You can post any artwork although works that have a connection to climbing or mountains in some way would be prefered so that the site visitors can relate to the content. Please no shock value works. (So no demons devouring virgins etc.) Lets keep the mood positive please.

Have fun and enjoy!

Xmod I like your sketch called 'Solo Sweat'. I am not an art critic but that sketch just grabs your attention, it really highlights the dangers of solo climbing, the facial expression on the guy and I like the big hand which becomes the centre of the drawing.

Thanks Drifter! It is a bit Tom Cruise! I drew this one after a hold snapped on me whilst soloing (easy climb) some 180m up, heartstopping! I guess the fear translated to the drawing. Now hopefully we can see some more works from others? Please dont be shy people, you dont have to be a great artist at all, this is just for fun. :alien:

The shoe
By MICHAEL ECKHARDT Grade 6

I am no Ordinary shoe. I spend my day’s living on the
Edge. Adrenalin is my middle name. I am I rock-climbing boot. I was born in Czechoslovakia and my emblem is a spider. My soles are made of rubber and i am the tightest fitting shoe around. This comes in handy for helping me stick to the wall like I gecko. Over the course of my life I have had very good times and very bad times, one of which is when my owner took a lead-climb fall on the crux move. He was just leaning over to clip when his crimp popped and he lost his grip I heard him gasp and suddenly we wear plummeting. It was a few good meters before the rope caught him. On the up side my best experience was being part of the team that won the Gauteng rock climbing championships. We started out well getting good scores on first two routes. The 3rd was difficult but we made up for it on the 4th route. The atmosphere was electric people were shouting and clapping with every move I made. Then I lost my edge, I kept slipping off. This was very depressing. Then my owner took me to get my soles changed, you have no idea how good it feels to get your souls changed. It feels like you’re brand new and after that it’s back to lots of rock again, because I love climbing.
