Wonderwall - Kya Sands Gym

Postby GarethFrost » Wed Sep 12, 2007 8:34 am

What is the new Wonderwall (Kya Sands) Gym like now since it's re-opening?
Have they delivered on their promises to improve the place and make it an excellent climbing gym?

Haven't been there yet, but have spoken to a few people who have. No one has had anything negative to say about the place - only compliments!!! Unfortunately it's miles from where I stay, but seems like you guys in the north have The Real Thing.

Danny, I stay out close to you and the trip once a week is worth it! in traffic it takes about 50min ( things we do to train and crank )

Under different circumstances I'd agree. As I've had to pursue a more \"normal\" job, I've taken to doing shoes in my spare time. 20 min each way to either Wits or the Wilds means that I'd spend 1 hr less on the road per session. JHB is just too big. They have my support is spirit, though.

I've been a couple of times and really like it. Finally we have a real gym in Jhb. Let's hope it remains ... but the only way it can maintain and improve is if all get out there and support them.

So come on guys (and gals) if you haven't popped in yet go have a look, it's well worth it.

So where exactly is it, where can I find directions? I know its in the same venue as the the old gym, but having avoided that like the plague, I have no idea where it is.

Enter Kya Sands from Hans Strydom. Right if coming from Witkoppen side, Left if coming from Lanseria side.

At the T-Junction turn left

At next T-Junction turn right

First complex on the right hand side in Kya Sands Industrial Village. Double yellow [*thinks*] gates separated by guard house.

Once in the complex, turn left and then right at the end.

Gym is on the right hand side, can't miss it from here.
