Car break in at the Mine

Post by micky » Sat May 26, 2007 6:45 pm

On a recent news article on car break ins at the mine it was suggested that you park on the road instead of the gravel parking. So, taking the advice we parked on the road which we have never done before.

murphy's law ... our car got broken into. They smashed both passenger windows, the window between the front of the car and the canopy (its a bakkie) and broke our passenger mirror off. Luckily there was nothing to steal.

So it doesnt really matter where you park they will break into your car. Best get a 4x4 and drive to the top of the gravel road.

\"safer parking\"

I should have posted this earlier I guess, but anyway I always drive a few hundred meters past the normal parking till you get the the security hut/entrance to Marine command (or whatever that building actually is). Chat to the guards nicely and park right by them, they are there 24hrs. It adds a whopping 4 mins onto the walk, but as far as I am concerned the choice is obvious.

Happy cranking
