Can anyone recommend a good doctor/physio who specialises in shoulder injuries in Jhb (the West Rand would be the best)?? Obviously a doctor/physio who is also climber would be best...

I've had a niggling shoulder injury for a while now and would like to get a second opinion. I've already been to physio a few times (and I have been doing the exercises shown on http://www.urbanclimbermag.tv. & http://www.ukclimbing.com/articles/page.php?id=119, although they are extremely boring to do, and it doesn’t feel as if I'm making any progress...

Any help would be much appreciated.

Danny Pinkas' wife, Claire had an ongoing shoulder injury and apparently found a great physio who has helped her sort it out. get hold of him at rockfrog resoles (if he's back from his honeymoon).

Physios study for at least four years to make the exercises as boring as possible. Stick with them - they work in the end.

If your injury is just tissue or muscle, you probably want a physio - not a doctor. (If it's serious enough the physio will refer you to a specialist).

In Jozi I know of at least two physios who climb (or climbers who pay for their climbing with physio practices, depending on your point of view):
- Mark Seuring (mseuring@hotmail.com)
- Andrew Tyler (+27 83 707 2595)
I'm sure there are many more. I haven't been to either Mark or Andrew, so can't comment on their skills.

Lou-Ann Rivett is a well known sports physio in Jozi. She doesn't climb, but as a former Springbok triathlete I think she'll understand your injury. Her rooms are in Randburg - look her up in the telephone book.

Hope you recover quickly
