Gydo and Waboom berg (Ceres)

Postby Hann » Wed May 02, 2007 1:08 pm

I am trying to gather climbing info for Gydo berg and Waboom berg close to Ceres.
We drove past it this weekend and again them big cliffs made an impression.

Any suggestions? I’ve tried the MCSA website but would prefer not spend days paging the old journals.

Big cliffs on Gydo/Waboomsberg

Postby MIKESCOTT » Sat May 05, 2007 3:39 pm

Do you mean the dark brown cliffs above the Gydo pass with the funny strata? If so, the only rock climb up there was done years back by the Quails and Rick William's party. They took the best looking line and it went at about F2 with some unusual rock climbing in chimneys and I seem to recall there was plenty of loose stuff.

Thanks Mike, seems like I’ll be doing some exploring soon.
I will be sure to put out the word should there be any discovery.

And? Did you get some exploring done?
That cliff tempts me every time I drive past, if you want to team up with me - let's go!

Uwe, happy to follow you (if I can). Had the same thought many times...
