Climbing around Kimberly

Post by toraage » Wed Aug 24, 2005 10:44 pm

Hey

I will come from Norway to live and work in Kimberly from october to march this year. Now, i am not able to find any information on climbing in this area after looking around on the internett, so i wonder if anybody could help me out here i would be very glad. Is there for example an indoor climbing wall close by, or how is the bouldering possibilities in this part of the country? An indoor boulderingcave would also do if nothing else.
Thanks.

I grew up in Kimberley & if my memory serves me correctly there is nothing to climb at all. Flat as a pancake!!
However you will find excellent climbing about 200 miles East of Kimberley around Harrismith.(eastern Free State) Look for Swinburne or Mt Everest on this website in the crags section. Good luck.

If youre desperate you could do some deep water soloing up the sides of the big hole! (just kidding)
