Cecilia and Tokai Forest to be Flattened

Postby Stu » Sun Sep 10, 2006 7:33 pm

Just been watching Carte Blanche and according to the authorities the forests will be cut over the next 20 years, and some portions will not be replanted. For me this will be a huge loss, while I enjoy our fynbos I much prefer the large trees, and seeing as most of our indigenous trees are gone why not keep the exotic ones. Is this something anyone is worried/cares about?

While I dislike exotic veg as much as I can. The battle against it is already far lost. At what point do we accept pine, wattle & gum as localized?

Everyone has the right to opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

At what point does anything become localized...we humans are also aliens in Southern Africa. None of our domestic animals or plants are from SA origionaly.
