I am visiting South Africa for about a month or so in August and would love to do some bouldering while I am there. I will definitely be in the Cape Town area, Johannesburg, and potentially a few surrounding countries. I am looking for any information on where to go, how to get there, renting a crashpad, gyms around, etc. I won't have the gear to do any rope climbing, so looking to stick to bouldering maybe deep water soloing.
Any information would be helpful, thanks!
Visiting South Africa from the USA..where to boulder?

Rocklands is the obvious place to boulder in August:

It's still in season so there'll be plenty of people there and driving to & fro from CPT.
Cape Town peninsula has some amazing bouldering too - best to go out with locals as there's no up to date topo/maps and it can be hard to find your way around.
I'm away til mid August but happy to show you around some local bouldering when I get back - you can pm me.

There is some bouldering round joburg area, not much though.
An hour or two drive north there is a large area for bouldering at Ezemvelo Nature Reserve.
It is not as big or as good as rocklands but there are round about 150 open problems. It is also sandstone.
If you are interested send me a mail at ixnayvol1@gmail.com or give me a call at: 081 512 3294
We got lots of pads and know the area very well.
