hey every body i just landed in SA and i got three months here(until the end of march) im here with my girlfriend and we were thinking of renting an apartment in a nice quiet place that.. shes not a climber so this is not a climbing trip but i don't went to get soft after 3 months of not climbing sooo i was thinking if anyone has an idea of a nice place we can live in that either has a bouldering area not to far(30-45min drive) or a good gym to train in and.
we where thinking maybe about Clanwilliam as a option what do you think??
oh yeah right know were around the western cape but were willing to move around but not to much

Clanwilliam is too hot this time of year and if you do go there now, your GF might just leave you
Something in the Southern Suburbs might suit you... in particular - Muizenberg, Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek, Lakeside... There is bouldering at Topside and a gym in Observatory.

What about Kleinmond? Near the sea, bouldering, sport climbing, mountain biking....
All within 90mins of Cape Town.

Paarl - good granite bouldering + other climbing - 45 mins from CT
Montagu - good sport climbing, no bouldering - 2 hours from CT
Kleinmond - what tygereye says - 90 mins from CT
Clanwillaim - good bouldering - can be brutal with the heat (it doesn't cool down much at night) - 3 hours from CT
If the heat doesn't bother you... the bouldering is very good and you can climb late afternoon.
Ceres - good bouldering (lots of potential new routing to be done) - also can be very hot - 2 hours from CT

my 2c - the only one of those towns i would survive in for 3-months is montagu. beautiful place, progressive people, safe and lots to see & do in the area. you will need a belayer though. all of the others are worthy to visit though.

Ask here, but also have a look at http://www.gumtree.co.za
Given the short period that you are here, I would try not to buy a car (mostly to do with having to re-sell it!).
